First In Families operates on an application basis and has no limits on the types of things it can help a family achieve. Applications may be downloaded on our website. You may also call our offices to have one mailed to you.

To be eligible for assistance, a few simple criteria must be met:

• Live in Mecklenburg County

• Your household income should not exceed $65,000 after taxes, and;

• Have a family member with a:
  • developmental disability or
  • traumatic brain injury or
  • severe mental illness or (Effective 4/2/07)
  • severe persistent mental illness (Effective 4/2/07)

To apply, you need the following:

3. FIF Application in Adobe Reader format.
